BOSTON — Power crews have been working nonstop since the nor’easter barreled through, leaving half a million people in Massachusetts without electricity.
In some communities like Plymouth, as of Thursday morning, just under 17,000 residents are still in the dark.

The South Shore and the Cape were among the hardest hit by the nor’easter that slowly made its way through the state, creating a lot of destruction in its path.
Eversource released a list of estimated times of power restoration on Thursday night. Those wishing to see when their community is expected to get power back can click here.
Downed trees and limbs are the main culprits of the power outages, taking down power lines.
Extra power crews were brought in as far away as Canada.
Even though crews were stationed and ready to go as soon as people lost electricity, it wasn’t safe for them to start working until the winds went below 35 miles an hour, which in some towns didn’t get to that point until Wednesday night.
Both National Grid and Eversource have nearly 4,000 people responding to the power outages.
Because there are so many workers out there, the governor is asking drivers to be careful on the roads for the next few days. If you see a downed power line, don’t touch it. Call and report it to your power company.
