NORTHERN LIGHTS POSSIBLE TONIGHT
A strong solar storm will bring the chance to see the northern lights tonight! Though always a crapshoot whether or not they’ll be visible, take a look toward the north after 10 pm and away from city lights. Unfortunately, nights are short this time of year so there’s a very small window of opportunity overnight with our darkest part of the night sky lasting through about 2:30 am.
THE HEAT IS HERE
We’ll remain hot both Friday and Saturday with high temps reaching the upper 80s to around 90 both days. Humidity will be on the lower end Friday, just a tad bit more humid Saturday as dewpoints rise from the 50s to around 60. A sea breeze along the coast will keep temps slightly cooler, especially across Cape Ann and Cape Cod.
Temps on Sunday look slightly cooler as a cold front slides through southern New England. Temps will be mostly in the 70s with 80s inland.
Remember, June and early July have the highest sun angles of the year. It’s a pretty good bet that if it’s sunny, the UV Index is very high. That means you can burn in 15-20 minutes. Apply sunscreen liberally this week!
WEEKEND SHOWERS
Much of Saturday will be dry with rain showers and thunderstorms confined to central and northern New England during the afternoon. The chance for showers and thunderstorms increases during the evening, especially north and west of Boston, some of which may become strong to isolated severe. The threat for showers and thunder remains through the first half of the night with showers becoming less numerous late.
Sunday is looking dry to start with an increasing chance for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, likely lasting into the first half of Sunday night before ending.
Drier weather moves in Monday with highs in the 60s, warming up again by the middle of the week.
