High School GameDay Game of the Week: Tewksbury at Methuen

The Tewksbury Redmen are on the road to take on the Methuen Rangers in the second installment of the High School GameDay Game of the Week.

SCORE UPDATES:

9:43 p.m.: After a missed last-second field goal attempt, Tewksbury took home the win 31-30.

9:31 p.m.: A Tyler Keough field goal from 33 yards out gives Tewksbury the lead with less than two minutes to go. The Redmen lead 31-30.

9:13 p.m.: Thrice is nice, as Jay Connolly hits Shane Aylward for a 40-yard touchdown to make it 30-28.

8:58 p.m.: Connor Bryant throws a 40-yard touchdown pass for the Rangers to Isaac Frederique, but the extra point attempt was blocked. Methuen extends their lead to 30-21 with 10:52 to go in the fourth.

8:55 p.m.: Methuen heads into the fourth quarter with a 24-21 lead.

8:46 p.m.: Shortly after a touchdown for the Rangers, the Redmen fire back with a touchdown pass from Jay Connolly to Shane Aylward, their second connection of the game. Methuen 24-21 with 2:12 to go in the third.

8:34 p.m.: Methuen responds with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Connor Bryant to Ricky Brutus to take a 17-14 lead with 5:12 to go in the third quarter. Another touchdown taken in by Bryant himself made it 24-14 Methuen.

8:20 p.m.: The Redmen answer once more with a 16-yard touchdown to John Kelly after a 49-yard pass from Jay Connolly to Shane Aylward on a 3rd and 7. With the point after, Tewksbury takes a 14-10 lead.

8:01 p.m.: Tewksbury gets on the board on a touchdown pass from Jay Connolly to Shane Aylward, with a Tyler Keough extra point making it 10-7 Methuen at the half.

7:49 p.m.: Tewksbury goes for it on 4th and goal from Methuen's 4-yard-line with no luck, giving the ball back to the Rangers with 2:38 to go in the half.

7:32 p.m.: Methuen heads into the second quarter with a 10-0 lead.

7:20 p.m.: The Rangers followed up their field goal with senior Sam Ferullo recovering a Redmen fumble in the end zone, taking a 10-0 lead with just under three minutes to go in the first quarter.

7:08 p.m.: Methuen opens up the scoring with a 33-yard field goal, taking a 3-0 lead early on in the first quarter.

Both teams went into the game with a 1-0 record on the year, with the Redmen coming off a 35-6 win over Lawrence and the Rangers hoping to keep up the momentum after a 41-16 win over Malden Catholic.

In the end, the Redmen came out on top, moving to 2-0 through two weeks of the season.

The game won this week's voting for the High School GameDay Game of the Week, taking 39 percent of the vote, ahead of the 30 percent for the game between Scituate and Duxbury.

The teams collected items to aid in the relief following the Merrimack Valley gas explosions on Thursday night.
