Celtics 2017-18 schedule unveiled

BOSTON — The defending Atlantic Division champion Boston Celtics will open the season in Cleveland in a rematch of the Eastern Conference Finals with the Cavaliers and host the Washington Wizards on Christmas Day.

Those two matchups, which were unveiled last week, highlight the Celtics 2017-18 schedule, which was unveiled Monday night.

The NBA season will start earlier this season, with the Celtics and Cavs getting the year started on October 17. Last week, it was also revealed the Celtics will only play four preseason games, rather than the eight that were traditional in past seasons.

Additional highlights on the schedule: 

• The defending champion Warriors visit TD Garden on Thursday, November 16 at 8 p.m.
• Gordon Hayward will face his old team, the Utah Jazz at TD Garden on Friday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m.
• The Cavaliers will make their first trip to TD Garden on Wednesday, January 3 at 8 p.m.
