Victim of Brockton stabbing dies, Fall River woman charged with murder

BROCKTON, Mass. — The female victim of a Friday stabbing in Brockton has died, according to a release from the Plymouth County District Attorney. Jennifer Landry, 41, of Brockton was stabbed in the neck on Friday.

She was in serious condition at Good Samaritan Hospital before being transported to Boston Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on Saturday.

The stabbing occurred near Belmont St. and Grafton St. in the city. Officials said the stabbing may have been a result of a possible road rage incident.

Before being charged, Jacqueline Mendes, 32, told Brockton Police that she had been involved in an incident.

State Police Detectives and Brockton PD developed information that a traffic confrontation occurred between Mendes and the female victim prior to the stabbing.

Mendes allegedly stabbed the victim and re-entered her vehicle and fled the scene.

Police initially charged Mendes with Intent to Murder, and Assault and Battery with a Deadly Weapon following the incident. After Landry's death, law enforcement charged Mendes with murder.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on charges Monday in Brockton District Court

"It's scary, I really wouldn't want to be raising kids here today because road rage is so prevalent," said Sharon Robinson of Brockton.
