Woman accused of editing pictures claiming to show injuries to her son

MERRIMACK, N.H. — Police in New Hampshire have arrested a woman they say faked injuries to her son in order to get money.

In November, Taylor Tibbetts reported that her 3-year-old son had been abused by his father. Shortly thereafter she allegedly created a GoFundMe with edited pictures that she claimed were her son’s injuries.

On the GoFundMe page Tibbetts claimed she was going to use the money to hire a lawyer so she could get full custody of the boy.

“I didn't start it to get money for anything other than a lawyer,” Tibbetts said.

The boy's father, 24-year-old Bryant Clark, said the GoFundMe had side-by-side pictures that had been altered.

“Making a pictures and Photoshopping things and taking other people’s money. It's not right to be doing it,” he told FOX25.

Both parents say all they want is for the boy to be happy.

“Stop with the drama, stop, be a father. Be a father and I'll be a mother and what more could a child want than a mother and a father,” Tibbetts said.

FOX25 reached out to GoFundMe for comment and received the following statement:

"There are unfortunate instances where people create campaigns with the intention to take advantage of others’ generosity. In the rare cases where fraud occurs, GoFundMe takes swift action to resolve the issue. In this case, we assisted with the local law enforcement investigation and quickly shut down the account of the campaign organizer.”

After an investigation, police arrested Tibbetts on one count of providing a false report to a police officer. She was released on bail and is due back in court next month.

The parents shared custody, but for the past month the boy has been staying with Bryant.
