WINTHROP, Mass. — The Winthrop Town Fireworks Sunday night ignited a brush fire in Coughlin Park.
Fire Chief says they were anticipating some of the brush to go up in flames on Coughlin Park because it was so dry and windy.
Even though the fire department was ready, the crowd didn’t know if the fire was part of the show.

"We're like, 'What's going on? Nobody seems to be doing anything,'" said Leigh Gilmore.
The chief said they were prepared and have continued putting out smoldering hotspots Monday. The park is uninhabited and surrounded by water.
Nobody was hurt, but firefighters are using this as a warning for anyone celebrating with fireworks.
