WEYMOUTH, Mass. — A Weymouth man working as a magician is accused of groping children between 1998 and 2009.
David Hussey, who goes by stage name of David Oliver, faced a judge on Wednesday. Bail was set at $2,000 cash.
Hussey is charged with two counts of indecent assault and battery on a child over 14 and one count of indecent assault and battery on a child under 14.
The first alleged victim came forward in September 2018, spurred by a Facebook post by David Hussey indicating he had skin cancer and asking for donations.
He previously had lung cancer in 2013 and underwent a double lung transplant, according to his blog.
The first alleged victim went to law enforcement with the names of other potential victims, who as children had taken classes or attended camps taught by Hussey.
Detectives conducted interviews and identified two other victims.
The alleged abuse consisted of massages and other forms of bodily rubbing. Prosecutors say the children did not willingly participate and tried to discourage it, in some instances, by pushing his hand away.
The alleged incidents mostly happened in Rockland but one victim told authorities that the alleged abuse happened on long car rides.
