It's the gift that keeps giving this holiday season.
A woman from West Bridgewater started a trend when she offered to pay for Darcie Fisher's groceries at the local Market Basket.
"I was getting ready to pay for my groceries when a lovely little lady came up next to me and wished me a Merry Christmas out of the blue," she said. "And I was a little taken aback, I said 'Merry Christmas.' And then she said, 'I'm going to buy your groceries.'"
Fisher said the woman told her she needed to pay it forward.
So she went to the KMart in Brockton, and paid for five layaways for families there.

And it didn't stop there. Fisher encouraged others to pay it forward on Facebook - and inspired her friends to find other ways to give back.
"Santa is still there you know," Fisher's friend Marie Kjelgaard said. "He's not gone. And you don't have to see him, but everyone can be Santa."
Kjelgaard bought coffee for a group of teens, and also offered to donate clothes to a family in need.
It's become a snowball effect, and they're hoping it will continue to make the holidays a little brighter.
