We Love U Foundation kicks off month-long blood donation awareness campaign

BOSTON — A global non-profit partnered with Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to host a blood drive Sunday.

It's part of the international We Love U Foundation's months-long campaign to bring awareness to the importance of donating blood.

Volunteers say the group has hosted drives in more than 50 countries to address global blood shortages.

"It was very powerful," We Love U Volunteer Jessica Carter told Boston 25 News. "We were carrying out that campaign to show that we also care about the global family."

About a hundred donors from the foundation donated blood. It was also open to the public.

We Love U stressed that there are often shortages of blood in the winter months and encouraged everyone to donate when they can.
