‘We just need a bunch of prayers’: Plymouth reeling after horrifying crash

PEMBROKE, Mass. — A horrific crash on Sunday has left a community reeling.

"It’s horrifying, it really hit the community really hard," Plymouth Selectwoman Betty Cavacco told Boston 25 News.

Police say that early Sunday morning the car that Claire, Kendall and Clarie’s mother were in was hit by a truck driven by 31-year-old Gregory Goodsell. He allegedly flew through a red light while drunk and on drugs in his company pick-up truck, killing 13-year-old Claire Zisserson.

Claire’s mother was also injured, but is now home.

Kendall Zemotel, also 13, is clinging to life at Children’s Hospital in Boston.

Claire was a standout soccer player. Her team posted a tribute on Facebook, which says in part, “Claire was a wonderful young lady and athlete who made a big impact on her friends, family, coaches and teammates. The news is heartbreaking for the entire community and Claire will undoubtedly be missed by all.”

“We just need a bunch of prayers," Cavacco said. "Whatever you believe in, please say a prayer for this girl and these families that are devastated."

Goodsell told police he was at a company Christmas party for Hi-Way Safety Systems admitted to police he drank and did cocaine before the collision.

Meanwhile, Boston 25 News has learned a second employee died on Sunday. He was found unresponsive at a Rockland Motel. The district attorney's office is reviewing and investigating the party.

A GoFundMe for Claire has raised more than $60,000 since Sunday.

Cavacco started a GoFundMe for Kendall on Tuesday and it has already raised more than $6,000.

There are tentative plans for a candlelight vigil for the girls as early as this weekend.
