Utility worker falls 35 feet, struck by wires during fall

NORTON, Mass. — A National Grid worker was rushed to the hospital Tuesday afternoon after falling 35 feet while working at a utility pole.

Police responded to reports of a utility worker involved in an accident in the area of 40 West Hodges Street in Norton at around 10 a.m. The street was closed down as emergency crews responded to the scene.

A Norton Police detail officer working with the National Grid crew called for assistance after the National Grid worker fell out of the bucket he was working in and struck wires during his fall.

The officer and another National Grid worker performed CPR on the victim and provided first aid.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is unknown at this time. No one else was injured.

This incident remains under investigation.
