MEDFORD, Mass. — Tufts University police are searching for a suspect after a female student woke up with an intruder in her dorm room.
The school told FOX25 that early Saturday morning at about 3:55 a.m., a student residing in Wren Hall woke up to find an unknown male in her room rubbing her arm.
"The very idea that someone could get into the room, not if anything happened that's not the scary part. Just the idea that someone could so easily surpass the security put in place there," said Tufts University student James Golden.
She called Tufts University police, which responded immediately and checked the surrounding area in search of a suspect. The school said that police are still searching for the suspect.
The suspect was described by the victim as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5' 8" to 6' with short black hair and wearing a dark shirt.
Several students that FOX25 spoke to described a similar incident that occurred about a month ago in a different residential building. One shared an email with FOX25's Ted Daniel that she said was sent to residents of Miller Hall. The email said, "an unknown person entered a second floor women's shower area" and put their hand in the shower.
"It's very frightening as a female to see that things are escalating not improving," said Tufts University sophomore Kerry Crowley.
Anyone with information about this or similar incidents should contact Tufts University Police Department at (617) 627-3030.
