Woman found in car outside Denver hospital was dead 3 days

DENVER — A woman’s body was found three days after she died in her car parked outside a Denver hospital.

Yvette Mooney, 50, died Aug. 20. Her body was found Sunday, KDVR reported.

“A hard worker all her life,” daughter-in-law Kandra Garcia said. “She raised amazing children.”

Family members tried to call Mooney the day she died. They thought she was at the hospital to visit a family friend. When she did not return their calls, they called police. Investigators found her body in her car in the emergency room parking garage.

“She couldn’t make it inside. She thought, ‘I’m in an ER parking lot. They will find me. Somebody will come.’ Not three days later when she’s blistered and too decomposed for us to have a proper burial,” Garcia said.

Swedish Medical Center apologized for the ordeal.

“We offer sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones,” Garcia said. “Upon discovery of the event we immediately notified the Englewood Police Department and have worked closely with them throughout the ongoing investigation.”

Police said the coroner is still working to determine the cause of death.
