Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced the charges against Aaron Winn in a news release, saying Winn’s brother Karl was found with a sword through his chest on the front porch of the family’s home on Thursday.

Kansas City police had initially investigated the death as suspicious, but later ruled it a homicide, WDAF reported.

According to court documents, Winn initially told officers who responded to the scene that Karl had committed suicide, before telling police that he had argued with his brother over the oven, prosecutors said.

In court documents obtained by KMBC, investigators said that Winn told officers that he argued with his brother over the oven being turned off while he was trying to cook a pizza. Winn allegedly said he was upset that Karl refused to take ownership of what he called an “evil” wrongdoing, KMBC reported.

The argument over the oven was recorded on Facebook Live, and Aaron Winn showed the 18-minute video to officers. Court documents indicate that Aaron can be seen in the video threatening Karl with a Taser, and Aaron saying, “You will die,” WDAF reported.

Aaron allegedly made a second post to Facebook after the video, where he said, in part, “That’s why I don’t like to fight. You going to die if I put my hands on you. My sons aint going to see me in the cage,” The Kansas City Star reported.

Winn was taken to the Jackson County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
