Paramedics and Tulsa firefighters were on the scene performing CPR when officers arrived.
The children’s parent was upstairs asleep when the girl woke her up and said she had stabbed her brother, KOKI-TV reported. The boy was taken to an area hospital and died from his injuries at 2:37 a.m. CST, Tulsa police said.
The girl was taken into custody and is being held at the Family Center for Juvenile Justice, police said.
It is unclear what led to the stabbing. Tulsa police Capt. Richard Meulenberg said that intent “is going to be a key component” that the courts will have to determine, KOKI reported.
“She’s losing two children at one time, her life, or the little girl’s life will never be the same, especially the little girl.” https://t.co/BWJpKSoRVB

“Obviously we did some interviews, but interviews with a 12-year-old are very preliminary,” Meulenberg told the television station. “This, unfortunately, has no easy end or easy path, this is going to be a long convoluted process that’s going to be extremely taxing on everyone involved in this.”
A neighbor told KOKI that the parent is “losing two children at one time.”
“Her life, or the little girl’s life, will never be the same, especially the little girl,” the neighbor, who did not give her name, told the television station.
