LOS ANGELES — Actress Anne Heche is under investigation for felony driving under the influence following a crash that happened on Friday in Mar Vista.
According to KABC, Heche is being investigated for felony driving under the influence after she crashed her car into a house in Los Angeles on Friday which sparked a fire and left her in a coma.
KTTV said that Heche was alone in the car at the time of the crash and was pulled out of the car by the Los Angeles Fire Department. LAFD told KTTV it took about 60 firefighters and about an hour to get the flames out. LAPD told CNN that a woman inside the home at the time of the crash had minor injuries and received medical attention.
LAPD told CNN that Heche’s blood did show signs of impairment, which is why the crash is now being investigated as a felony traffic crash.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles Police Department told KABC that lab results revealed that Heche had a presence of narcotics in her system after the crash but will need further testing to rule out any of the substances that the hospital administered.
LAPD told KABC said that the incident was originally investigated as a misdemeanor but only became a felony after a victim came forward.
According to KTTV, Heche remains in the hospital on a ventilator to help breathe and is facing surgery.
LAPD is awaiting the results from the additional testing and arrests have been made, according to KABC. The investigation is ongoing.
