MONROE COUNTY, Mo. — A hunter was surprised when he bagged a 16-point deer that turned out to be a doe.
Samuel Perotti is credited with shooting the animal on his property during firearms deer season in Monroe County, KFVS reported.
The Missouri Department of Conservation posted a photo of the animal and Perotti on its Facebook page, showing the animal. The post said Perotti had previously captured pictures of the antlered doe on his property.

This isn’t the first time an antlered doe has been bagged in Missouri. In 2019, a young hunter shot a doe with a 19-point rack of antlers, WDAF reported at the time.
Antlered female deer are rare, but not unheard of. The Missouri Department of Conservation said as many as 1 in 65 or as few as 1 in 4,437 female white-tailed deer may grow antlers, depending on where they live in North America and their hormones.
