Teen hit by car in Revere while trick-or-treating in stable condition

REVERE, Mass. — Police have identified the driver accused of hitting a 14-year-old girl who was crossing the street in Revere while out trick-or-treating with friends as a Lynn man who was driving with a suspended license, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office said Friday.

Wilvins Rosirus, 32, is accused of hitting the girl with his car Thursday night, around 8:15, as she was crossing the street along the American Legion Highway near Beach Street. He stayed at the scene following the incident, according to police.

All I remember [was] she walked ahead of us and the car came zooming and it hit her," said Aya Beno, a friend of the victim. "I saw her flying and I lost it."

The victim has been identified as 14-year-old Karima Sarhrani.

Sarhrani, who was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, was in stable condition Friday morning, according to the district attorney's office said.

Rosirus is facing charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Beno tells Boston 25 News the group of friends was walking to the T to go trick-or-treating in Boston, but Sarhrani, who was the first of the group to cross the street, was struck.

"Everyone was screaming, we were all in shock, she wasn't waking up [and] we didn't know what to do," said Beno.

Beno recalls screaming for help, asking one of her friends to call 911.

"You see all these things on the news but you never think it's going to happen to someone close," said Beno.

Sarhrani's friends said they were so overwhelmed they couldn't remember if the light was green or red for pedestrians.

Friday afternoon, her friends told Boston 25 News Sarhrani was still unconscious in the hospital with swelling on the brain and pelvic fractures.

Police say Rosirus is the one who called 911 after the incident. He was released on $250 bail after an arraignment Friday morning.
