Super Bowl tattoos: A good luck charm or just plain jinxing?

BOSTON — Another Super Bowl, another premature victory tattoo.

This year, the Boston 25 crews came across a Patriots fan from Everett who was sporting his Super Bowl LIII champs tattoo.

Not surprisingly, he's been confident his team would win the Super Bowl even before they made it to play offs, getting the tattoo back in August.

According to an Instagram post dated August 13, 2018, this year's Patriots Super Bowl fan tattoo stemmed from a bet where the conditions were for that post to get 10,000 likes within three days.

Last year, Eddy Ferrini of Boston got a Super Bowl LII champions tattoo a week before the game, citing he was 100 percent sure they were going to win.

Unfortunately, Ferrini was proven wrong as the Philadelphia Eagles took the championship title with a 41 - 33 victory over the Pats. This year, however, Ferrini has a shot at redemption if the Pats win in the game against the Rams, in which case he could just add a Roman numeral to his back tattoo.

But premature championship tattoos are not an exclusive Patriots fan thing to do. At around the same time the Everett Pats fan was getting his done, a Rams fan was certain his team would take the championship title.

In the end, regardless of who you cheer for, only one of these men will be able to carry on with the confidence they had the day they got their tattoos done.
