Study ranks Massachusetts least patriotic state

BOSTON — Are you proud to be an American?

A new study from WalletHub stacks up the states from the most patriotic to the least.

The states considered the most patriotic are Virginia, Alaska and Wyoming.

Where did Massachusetts land in the list?

Dead last.

How did our fellow New Englanders rank? New Hampshire came in at 13, Maine at 11 and Vermont at 19 while Connecticut ranked 45 and Rhode Island 48.

Researchers evaluated patriotism based on each state's military and civic engagement and looked at factors like active-duty members, veterans, voters and even frequency of Google searches for American flags.
