Police: Woman arrested for texting while driving without license, lying to officers

YARMOUTH, Mass. — A woman who allegedly killed a person while driving under the influence in 2010 was being sought by Yarmouth police, who say she has 20 prior criminal charges.

Police posted a photo of Gina Giovangelo Wednesday, asking for help locating a person they described as a "violent felon."

Giovangelo was stopped by officers on Aug. 3 and and lied about her identity, according to police.

The 26-year-old was taken into custody on Thursday after she turned herself in at the station, police said.

A warrant had been issued for Giovangelo's arrest in Barnstable District Court for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, giving false information to a police officer and texting while driving.
