BROCKTON, Mass. — A 10-month-long, multi-state investigation has led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive from Randolph.

Members of the Boston Police Fugitive Apprehension Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service, Massachusetts State Police and the Brockton Police Department on Tuesday located and arrested Hermano Joseph, 28, on Hamilton Street in Brockton.

Joseph and three other men used to work at Casa Isla, a now-closed youth detention center in Boston. The facility was located on Long Island until a bridge to the island was torn down in 2014.

The men were accused of abusing four teenagers who were under their care.

In December of last year, a Suffolk Superior Court jury found all four men guilty of a total 19 crimes. Joseph was convicted of indecent assault and battery (three counts) and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (three counts) and threats to commit a crime.

Joseph failed to appear in court for sentencing and removed his GPS monitoring device, causing the judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Boston Police said Tuesday's arrest came as a result of "collaborative investigation" that began in December of last year when Joseph fled the state. Over the course of the past 19 months, Joseph was tracked to locations in several states, according to police.

Joseph is expected to be arraigned in Brockton District Court Wednesday.
