MILTON, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Police are on the campus of a local private school investigating two racial hate letters sent to teachers.
School officials say the Milton Academy's Multicultural Director discovered a racially-charged hate letter after the school held a meeting in October to discuss diversity. Another letter was then found, with references to another member of the staff. The school is not saying what was in the letters and only notified parents about them this week.
The head of the school sent an email to parents of students on Monday saying that the author is unknown, an investigation is underway, and that law enforcement officials are involved.
"This act is in direct contrast to the culture and values we work hard to cultivate at Milton," a school official told FOX 25. "We are committed energetically and explicitly, as we have been in the past, to nurturing a safe and productive teaching and learning environment for every member of our School. "
Controversy at the elite school has made headlines in the past. In 2005, a sex scandal erupted involving the boys' hockey team.
As of Wednesday morning, there was no word of the incident on the school's website.
