Police find U-Haul full of illegal fireworks in Dorchester

DORCHESTER, Mass. — Boston Police confiscated a large amount of fireworks in Dorchester on Friday night while responding to a call of active explosions.

Officers arrived in the area of 22 Dacia Street around 9:30 p.m. where they found fireworks exploding in the middle of the street.

They also found a U-Haul van with a large amount of fireworks. Officers spoke to a man who said he had rented the U-Haul and told him that they are illegal and have been a serious nuisance for residents across the city.

Boston Police took the large amount of fireworks.

Massachusetts General Law states that it is illegal for private citizens to use, possess or sell fireworks in Massachusetts. It is also illegal to purchase them legally elsewhere and then transport them into Massachusetts.
