Pig escapes farm, shows up at NH polling place

PELHAM, NH — The New Hampshire primary just got a new unofficial mascot - a primary pig from Pelham.

A 600 lb. pig escaped from a Pelham farm Tuesday morning and walked a quarter mile to Pelham High School, the town's polling place.

"People have pet pigs and things like that, but I was like ‘whoa this is actually a pig,’” John Gould said.

Pelham police responded and were able to contact the pig's owner, Jimmy Diaz from Lowell, Massachusetts.

"The police called me up and said 'the pig is down at the high school,'” Diaz said.

Diaz told FOX25 he thinks the pig was trying to vote for Donald Trump, but volunteer's disagreed.

"Oh no way. A pig is smart," Jorg Dreusicke said. "Probably for Bernie or Hilary."

At the end of the whole ordeal, Diaz said the pig's punishment was a half-mile walk back to the farm where she came from.
