Movie fans celebrate 25th anniversary of 'Field of Dreams'

DYERSVILLE, Iowa (MyFoxBoston.com) -- Hundreds of film lovers flocked to Dyersville, Iowa Friday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of "Field of Dreams."

Actor Kevin Costner, who starred as daydreaming farmer Ray Kinsella in the movie, was on hand to play a few rounds of catch with his sons at the site of the legendary film.

Fans traveled from hours away to celebrate, paying tribute to the movie's father-son back story on Father's Day weekend.

"The whole, 'Just have a catch, with your son,' and just the whole message behind everything that comes with the movie is just amazing," said Ron Lovell, who attended the event with his son.

About 11,000 people were expected to join in events at the site Saturday.

"Field of Dreams" was nominated for three Academy Awards in 1990, including best picture.
