Monday marks Red Sox Opening Day

(MyFoxBoston.com) -- Monday marked Opening Day for the Red Sox and a sure sign that the spring was in full swing.

The Sox were set to start the season in National League territory in an afternoon game in Philadelphia against the Phillies.

Last year, the Red Sox finished in last place in the American League East.

One year after winning the World Series, the team won just 71 games.

To get more offense, the Sox signed free agents Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez in the off-season, but they failed to land an "ace" to lead their pitching staff.
