Worker seriously injured in fall at Norwood Hospital construction site

NORWOOD, Mass. — A worker was seriously injured in a fall at the Norwood Hospital construction site on Friday morning, officials said.

Emergency crews responding to multiple calls reporting a construction accident at 800 Washington Street learned a worker had fallen from the top of the second floor of the site around 10 a.m., according to the Norwood Fire Department.

Prior to firefighters and ambulance arriving at the scene, a Norwood police officer working a nearby detail rushed over and began administering aid to the worker, the department added.

The worker, whose name hasn’t been released, was rushed to Boston Medical Center. They are said to be in serious condition.

Norwood Hospital is being rebuilt after flooding in June 2020 caused catastrophic damage.

There were no additional details immediately available.

An investigation is ongoing.
