Victim in Brockton fatal stabbing identified, suspect charged with murder

BROCKTON, Mass. — Police in Brockton have identified the victim of Saturday night’s fatal stabbing in the city, according to a release from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. The suspect in that case, who was also identified Sunday, has been charged with one count of murder.

That stabbing took place around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday at 158 Lisa Dr. in the city. When police arrived at the scene, they located the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds and transported him to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

That victim was identified as James E. Jeanette, 35, of Brockton.

Following a preliminary investigation by officials, 25-year-old Robert J. Savignano was arrested and charged with one count of murder in connection to the fatal stabbing.

Law enforcement alleged that Savignano and Jeanette were roommates at the Lisa Drive residence, where an altercation occurred between the two men just before the stabbing.

Savignano will be arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. Local and state police are continuing to investigate the incident, along with the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
