ATTLEBORO, Mass. — A driver escaped serious injury after crashing into the porch of an Attleboro home early Saturday morning, fire officials said.
Crews responded to 314 South Main Street around 6 AM for a report of a vehicle that had struck a building.
When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into the home’s porch after first hitting two parked vehicles. Debris from a damaged fence was also scattered across the area.
According to the Attleboro Fire Department, the vehicle was traveling on South Main Street when it struck the parked vehicles before coming to rest against the porch.
The driver was evaluated by paramedics at the scene but declined transportation to a hospital.
The crash damaged several porch supports, prompting a response from the Attleboro Building Department. Officials determined the home did not suffer structural damage, and residents were allowed to remain inside. Repairs to the porch will be needed.
“The home’s natural gas service is located just feet from the porch and the path of the crash,” District Chief Michael Maitland said. “Fortunately, neither the vehicle nor the debris struck those lines.”
Maitland added that damage to the gas service could have significantly worsened the situation.
No serious injuries were reported, and the Attleboro Police Department is investigating the cause of the crash.
