Uber driver awaits justice after stolen car used in Chanel crash & grab

BOSTON — The owner of the car that was used as a battering ram during Friday’s crash and grab at Chanel is hopeful arrests will be made soon.

Amir Forghany, who works as an Uber Eats driver, said his Nissan Altima was stolen while he was picking up an order at a Somerville McDonald’s.

The Haverhill resident admits he left his car running early Friday morning and now regrets doing that.

“That car, I need it for my life, and I don’t have it now,” said Forghany.

The car was totaled after making a crashing entrance through the plate glass windows of the Chanel store on Newbury Street.

Police said two thieves stole at least 20 handbags.

The pair ditched the Nissan Altima on the showroom floor, entered an idled Jeep parked nearby and drove in the direction of Massachusetts Avenue.

“I feel like I won the lottery but in reverse,” said Forghany. “What are the odds of your car getting stolen, and they use it, not for a joyride, not to abandon somewhere but to take it and ram it into a store?”

Forghany said not only is his car totaled but he’s now left with tow and storage fees.

He said he’s not able to work until he gets another vehicle.

“That was my livelihood. I’m losing money,” he said.

As of Sunday night, Boston Police had no new updates on the active and on-going investigation.
