Tractor-trailer rollover on Route 128 in Wakefield causes lengthy traffic delays

WAKEFIELD, Mass. — A tractor-trailer rollover on Route 128 in Wakefield caused lengthy traffic delays as drivers hit the roads for the Thursday morning commute.

Crews responding to a report of a crash on the northbound side of the highway near North Ave. just before 5 a.m. found a Penske truck resting on its side, blocking the center and left travel lanes.

Video from the scene showed traffic backed up for miles and multiple emergency vehicles parked around the tractor-trailer.

It’s not clear if anyone was injured in the crash.

Motorists were urged to avoid the area as tow truck crews worked for hours to upright the tractor-trailer.

The scene has since been cleared and the lanes are open.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
