Worker at Scituate doctor’s office tests positive for coronavirus

SCITUATE, Mass. — A worker at the Brigham and Women’s Harbor Medical Associates office in Scituate has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an email sent to patients Friday.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and in keeping with CDC guidance and our infectious disease expert’s guidance, we have closed the practice and have asked staff who were potentially exposed to self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms,” the email continued.

The office is being thoroughly cleaned and disinfected, according to the email, which didn’t give a date for when the office would re-open.

For the time being, Harbor Medical Associates has consolidated its services to its Weymouth and Pembroke offices.

Any patient with urgent clinical needs has been advised to contact 781-545-7243 of to send a message to their doctor via the Patient Gateway portal.

A Brigham and Women’s spokeswoman declined to comment further due to patient privacy.

To date, Brigham and Women’s Hospital is treating four coronavirus patients, three of which have required intensive care. 60 other patients have been admitted to the hospital and have been tested for coronavirus, but their results are pending. Nine employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
