Police arrest fugitive wanted for 2 Boston stabbings, fatal Philadelphia shooting

BOSTON — Police arrested a dangerous fugitive Thursday night who was wanted in connection for multiple crimes in Boston and a homicide in Philadelphia.

According to Boston Police, Wagner Tejada-Pena was arrested in Lawrence just before 11:30 p.m., after authorities say Tejada-Pena had a warrant out for his arrest for murder out of Philadelphia after he allegedly shot and killed a random victim on June 21, 2022.

He was also wanted on two warrants out of West Roxbury District Court in connection with two stabbing incidents, according to police.

Lawrence Police say they conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Broadway and Manchester Street and Tejada-Pena was taken into custody without incident.

Wagner Tejeda-Pena appeared in West Roxbury District Court for arraignment on a fugitive from justice charge, and he was also charged with two non fatal stabbings in Roslindale on February 13th.

Tejeda-Pena was allowed to stand in a hallway during his arraignment, outside of the range of our camera and pleaded not guilty to the two Boston cases.

The victim in the Philadelphia case was a 76 year old man who was out for an early morning walk when he was shot once in the head.

Police say surveillance footage revealed this was a completely unprovoked attacked.

Wagner Tejeda-Pena, according to court documents, lives in Roslindale, but he may have fled to Philadelphia to escape charges in two separate shootings on February 13th in Roslindale.

The first shooting took place outside as Dominoes pizza shop on Washington St.

The victim said in a report said the two got into an argument when Tejada-Pena accused him of being his biological father.

And things quickly escalated.

According to the report Tejeda-Pena, armed with a folding knife, tried to stab the victim twice in the chest, but instead cut him in his outer thigh.

The second attack took place hours later inside a second floor apartment in Roslindale.

The victim said he was making lunch in his aunt’s kitchen, when Tejada-Pena came up behind him saying, so this is where you live, and stabbed the victim in the face with a folding knife.

Tejada-Pena is ordered held without bail until Philadelphia Police can pick him up.

In the meantime, he is due back in West Roxbury District Court for a Dangerousness Hearing on Tuesday.
