Sharon man, 23, arrested after stolen Amazon van rams into police cruiser

WELLESLEY, Mass. — A 23-year-old Sharon man has been arrested after a stolen Amazon van being sought by police rammed into a police cruiser in a harrowing chase that ended in Wellesley on Wednesday, state police said.

Cameron Mignon was charged with negligent driving, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, and failing to stop for police. State Police said Mignon will likely face additional charges by local police departments.

At 6:35 p.m., state police were notified that Norwood Police were pursuing a stolen Amazon van on Interstate 95, northbound in Needham. The State Police Air Wing and K-9 units responded to assist, including cruisers equipped with tire deflation devices.

State Police joined the pursuit on I-95 northbound as the van approached Route 9, and then continued on to Route 9 westbound. During the pursuit, the van struck a Needham Police cruiser and continued on.

As the pursuit lead on to Glen Road in Wellesley, troopers deployed a tire deflation device, which struck one of the vehicle’s tires.

Within several minutes, at around 7:23 p.m., the van turned on to Glenbrook Road, which is a one-way street, and eventually came to a stop.

At some point in the pursuit, the suspect rammed a police cruiser, state police said.

Several local police departments assisted in the pursuit.
