Passenger dead, driver in critical condition following vehicle crash in Swampscott

SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. — A passenger is dead after a major motor vehicle crash happened in Swampscott Wednesday morning on Paradise Road.

The Massachusetts State Police told Boston 25 News Swampscott Police, Fire, and Atlantic Ambulance responded to a fatal single motor vehicle crash in the area 245 Paradise Rd. The crash involved a Honda Accord, occupied by two people. Police believe the vehicle, traveling northbound, went off the road before it struck a fence and tree.

After crews arrived at the scene, they sent the passenger to North Shore Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The driver was sent to Mass General Hospital with serious injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

No charges or citations have been issued for this fatality. Swampscott Police requested mutual aid from Marblehead, Lynn, and Nahant Police.

The accident is being investigated by Swampscott PD, Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction and Crime Scene Services Sections, and the Essex District Attorney’s Office.
