One injured after shooting on Lakeview Ave. in Dracut

DRACUT, Mass. — Dracut Police Department is investigating a shooting that left a 22-year-old man injured Sunday afternoon.

Deputy Chief David Chartrand said officers responded just before 2:30 p.m. to the area of 1132 Lakeview Ave for a report of shots fired.

When officers arrived on the scene they located a Dracut man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was treated on scene and then transported by ambulance to an area hospital, said Chartrand.

Officers searched the area at the time but did not locate any suspects. Chartrand said when they reviewed the surveillance footage they made out a gray-colored vehicle that was seen leaving the area.

There is not believed to be any danger to the public at this time, according to Chartrand.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Dracut Police Department. No additional information is available at this time.
