Multiple dogs missing after overnight blaze tears through Bellingham home

BELLINGHAM, Mass. — Authorities are investigating after a fire ripped through a Bellingham home overnight on Wednesday.

The Bellingham Fire Department says they responded to a home on Stone Street just before 11:30 p.m. and found a house fully engulfed in flames.

The blaze was so severe that part of the home collapsed in on itself.

All occupants in the house were able to get out safely, but four dogs are still missing, according to fire officials.

A spokesperson for the fire department says the weather as well as nearby water problems with surrounding hydrants made this fire especially difficult to fight.

The home is considered a total loss and crews are planning on demolishing the building later this afternoon.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Bellingham Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
