NH man charged in puppy theft

As people across social media post photos of their beloved pets for National Puppy Day on Wednesday, there’s word of an arrest in a local puppy theft.

Justin LeClair of Manchester, New Hampshire is facing a felony charge for the alleged theft of a Rottweiler puppy earlier this month.

A woman told police that her Rottweiler puppy had been taken from her third-floor porch on Orange Street.

“She told police that prior to the puppy going missing she had seen an unknown male snooping around the property,” according to a statement from police. “Shortly afterward, she went outside to check on the puppy and saw the same male running down the stairs with the dog.”

The pup was later found unharmed in an alleyway off of Union Street according to police.

Police say they identified LeClair as the suspect through surveillance video.

LeClair is charged with Felony Theft by Unauthorized Taking and Falsifying Evidence. He was released on a $500 bond.
