Murder victim identified following fatal shooting at fireworks gathering in Dorchester

BOSTON — Boston Police have identified a Boston woman who was shot and killed on Sunday, as a 22-year-old now faces charges in her murder.

Felicity Coleman, 34, of Dorchester was pronounced dead at the scene following the early morning shooting on Sunday, police said Monday night.

Police responded to a call reporting a shooting in the area of 37 Stonehurst St. in Dorchester around 3:10 a.m. Sunday.

When officers arrived, they found Coleman suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.

Kristian Maraj, 22, of Dorchester, was arrested Sunday and charged in Coleman's murder.

Maraj was ordered held without bail following his arraignment Monday on murder and firearm charges in Boston Municipal Court.

According to prosecutors, early Sunday morning, a group had gathered in the area of Stonehurst Street to watch people set off fireworks.

Maraj, who was at the gathering with two other men, became involved in an argument with another person, during which Maraj allegedly displayed a firearm, prosecutors said.

Maraj and his two companions then left the area, but he returned a short time later, shirtless and firing into the crowd, prosecutors said.

Coleman was struck and killed by one of the shots fired. Prosecutors said investigators do not believe she was involved in the fight that happened before the shooting.

Maraj is scheduled to return to court on Aug. 5, 2020.
