MATTAPOISETT, Mass. — Firefighters battled a large fire at the Mattapoisett Boatyard Friday afternoon.
Fire Chief Andrew Murray said a call came in around 1:21 p.m. for a possible explosion. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames coming from a rear building.
Wind was a major issue for first responders, Murray said, and the fire spread to five buildings, more than a dozen vehicles and a number of boats.
One man was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Murray did not comment on his condition.
Three firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion and smoke inhalation.
More than 100 firefighters were called to fight the blaze.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
