Lineup announced for star-studded event in Boston spearheaded by the Royal Couple

BOSTON — The Prince and Princess of Wales will be in Massachusetts this week for a three-day visit, culminating in a star-studded event Friday at Fenway’s new MGM Music Hall.

The Earthshot Prize awards ceremony will be taped at the MGM Music Hall Friday and will be televised Sunday, Dec. 4.

Prince William founded the Earthshot Prize two years ago. It is a global environmental prize whose name was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s “Moonshot” challenge that pioneered space travel in the 1960s.

The Earthshot Prize finds and awards five recipients one million pounds – about $1.2 million – to bring to life their solutions on how to repair and protect the planet.

The star-studded lineup for this year’s ceremony was released early Monday morning and includes musical performances by Billie Eilish and her brother and creative partner FINNEAS, platinum selling artist and activist Ellie Goulding, R&B duo Chloe x Halle, and singer-songwriter and activist Annie Lennox.

Speakers and presenters include the Princess of Wales, award-winning actor Rami Malek, comedian Catherine O’Hara, and actor and activist Shailene Woodley.

Award-winning broadcaster Clara Amfo will co-host the ceremony alongside producer and director Daniel Dae Kim.

Along with Friday’s award ceremony, the Royal Couple will make several other stops in Boston and beyond on their three-day visit.

They’re set to visit Boston Mayor Michelle Wu at City Hall and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston.

William and Kate are also stopping by the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University. They focus on researching and developing science-backed ways to improve the lives of children who face adversity such as poverty and exposure to violence.

The Prince and Princess of Wales are also set to visit Greentown Labs in Somerville. According to their website, Greentown Labs is the largest climate-tech startup incubator in North America.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates as more information becomes available.
