Large crowds at Revere Beach prompts increased police presence this weekend

REVERE, Mass. — State Police are stepping up patrols on Revere Beach this weekend in anticipation for large crowds trying to escape the hot weather.

This comes almost a week after one person was hospitalized and five others were arrested for fighting near the bandstand.

“Visitors will see an increased police presence to ensure a safe and peaceful setting for all beachgoers,” said Colonel Christopher Mason.

Officers will be strictly enforcing excessive noise and public drinking, and would like to remind the beachgoers that alcohol, marijuana use, weapons, and loud music are not permitted at Revere Beach.

“As always, the Massachusetts State Police, Revere Police, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation welcome all visitors to the beach and encourage all to abide by the law and beach regulations and respect the rights of others,” Mason continued.

Revere Beach closes a half hour after dusk (8:30 p.m. on Saturday) and a parking ban will go into effect at 6:00 p.m. Saturday on Revere Beach Boulevard.

State Police will be posting updates on their social media sites if conditions change.
