SANDWICH, Mass. — An investigation continues Monday after a man was killed, and three other people were injured in a head-on crash on Cape Cod over the weekend, according to police.
Officers responding to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of 87 Farmersville Road in Sandwich around 8:50 p.m. on Sunday found a 2011 Toyota Prius driven by a man and a 2017 Toyota RAV4 carrying three people that had sustained significant damage in the crash.
Investigators say the Prius was traveling west on Farmersville Road while the RAV4 was traveling east when the vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the Prius suffered critical injuries and was transported by the Sandwich Fire Department to Cape Cod Hospital, where he later died. His identity has not yet been released.
The three occupants of the RAV4 were also taken to Cape Cod Hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. All are expected to survive.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
