Encore Boston Harbor donates masks, gloves & food as state extends closure to May 4

EVERETT, Mass. — Encore Boston Harbor has donated masks, gloves, other personal protective equipment and food for the state to distrubition to area hospitals and food pantries.

Encore donated 4,000 N95 masks, 40,000 other masks, 6,000 gloves, five pallets of toilet paper and seven pallets of water.

Encore also gave 1,000 N95 masks, 2,000 gloves and one pallet of toilet paper to the Cambridge Health Alliance’s Everett Hospital, which is located in the resort casino’s backyard.

Encore donated more than three dozen pallets of perishable and frozen foods to local food pantries and provided charitable groups with hand sanitizer.

The Massachusetts Army National Guard picked up the donations for the state to distribute.

On Friday, the state gaming commission voted to extend the closure of all casinos through May 4, consistent with Governor Charlie Baker’s order to close all non-essential businesses through the same date.
