Driver killed in Taunton crash

TAUNTON, Mass. — An unidentified driver was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Taunton early Saturday morning, police said.

At around 3:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to the area of 740 Burt St. for a reported motor vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, first responders found a single vehicle that had struck a tree and had caught on fire.

A preliminary investigation showed that the driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

They were pronounced dead at the scene, and their identity has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation.
