BOSTON — A Dorchester man was arrested for allegedly hitting a Boston police officer with a moped.
22-year-old Angel Gonzalez was placed under arrest and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, leaving the scene of personal injury, and failure to stop for police.
On Wednesday, August 19, an officer was conducting a walk and talk in the area of Franklin Street, which is designated for pedestrians and emergency vehicles only.
The officer observed a moped allegedly weaving in and out of pedestrians in an attempt to gain access to Washington Street.

As the officer approached the operator, he allegedly accelerated, knocking the officer to the ground.
A description of the suspect and the moped were broadcasted.
The officer was evaluated at the scene and declined medical attention.
At around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, another officer was conducting traffic enforcement in the theater district.
While waiting at a red light on Stuart Street and Washington Street, a vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed in the opposite direction.
The officer conducted a query of the vehicle’s registration which determined that the owner had an active arrest warrant.
The officer initiated a traffic stop. Police officers confirmed the registered owner, and he was placed in handcuffs.
Gonzalez is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
