BROOKLINE, Mass. — Brookline Police are asking residents to avoid the area of the Brookline Reservoir in the area of Lee Street and Route 9 due to a water main break.
Police tweeted Thursday morning that Lee Street will be closed near Route 9 while crews work on an issue at the reservoir. Lee Street is a busy road off Route 9 that connects Brookline to the West Roxbury area.
Please avoid the area of the Reservoir right now as the MWRA works to contain this situation. pic.twitter.com/olGnyY4jtr

Officials have been working on renovating Reservoir Park since 2018. The park, which is declared a National Historic Site, reopened in June 2020.
This is really sad.

The MWRA (Massachusetts Water Resources Authority) told Boston 25 News it is a water line, not a sewer that is ruptured.
“So far we have not had any reports of anyone without water. The pressure dipped a bit but is recovering. This would not be a boil order situation.”
Sky 25 flew over the reservoir Thursday to see the damage:
