Coast Guard searching for missing kayaker off Martha’s Vineyard

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, Mass. — A search is underway for a kayaker who has gone missing in the water off Martha’s Vineyard.

An unmanned kayak was found Wednesday morning floating in the water near Gay Head Lighthouse, according to the United States Coast Guard.

Coast Guard crews, the Menemsha Harbormaster, Cuttyhunk Fire and Rescue, and crews from Dukes County are assisting in the search for the kayaker.

A photo shared by the Coast Guard showed the pole of a fishing rod dangling over the front of the kayak.

There were no additional details immediately available.
